Rudzu Rīga: Rye Riga 2026

Rudzu Rīga brings a two-hour pop-up devoted to rye bread, autumn produce and Latvian food culture to Old Riga on September 19. The free event is part of the Vecrīga Festival “Atvasara” programme and centres on one of Latvia’s most familiar foods, approached through tastings, desserts, workshops and a deliberately playful dose of dark humour.

Visitors can taste and vote in a chefs’ garlic-toast mini championship, try rye-based sweets and see different interpretations of rye bread from local chefs and bakers. The food programme includes Ēriks Dreibants, Artūrs Arnicāns, Kristaps Reimanis, Svetlana Riškova and pastry chef Ina Poļiščenko. Emīls Gatis Liepiņš and Ralfs Eilands provide the humour, while a creative workshop lets visitors put an autumn-themed design onto textiles.

Everything in the programme is free. The event takes place on Torņa iela, close to the intersection with Aldaru and Smilšu streets.
