What if Judas Iscariot could be put on trial again? The Last Days of Judas Iscariot comes to Daile Theatre in Riga with a darkly comic courtroom drama set between Heaven and Hell.
Stephen Adly Guirgis’ play follows a lawyer attempting to reopen Judas Iscariot’s case in Limbo. Saints, historical figures and other witnesses are called to testify as the court debates guilt, betrayal, mercy and whether anyone can truly be beyond forgiveness.
Directed by Mārtiņš Eihe, the production combines sharp humour with questions about religion, morality and judgement. The performance is in Latvian with English surtitles.
