Museum Night 2026 at the National Library of Latvia

Latvia’s annual Museum Night takes place on May 23, this year themed “The Adventures of Objects.” The National Library of Latvia (Gaismas pils) opens its doors for an evening of reading, exhibitions, and events. No library card needed — everything is free.

Loud Reading Marathon (19:00–24:00) — read aloud excerpts from the children’s and youth book collection, hosted by actor Emīls Krūmiņš with live sound by DJ MARKY or RIKATS. Sign up on site at the 1st floor.

Silent Reading Above Riga’s Rooftops (19:00–24:00) — a mindful, ambient reading session on the library’s rooftop gallery. Bring your own book or choose from a curated selection. Ambient music by MARKY or RIKATS. Register at the 8th floor entrance.

15 exhibitions open, including permanent collection “The Book in Latvia”, the Baltic University story, folk applied art, Krišjānis Barons’ Dainu skapis, and more.

Café Divi Raiņi open throughout the evening. LNB Friends Room open for book and souvenir purchases.
