DESCRIPTION:The first edition of the Riga Contemporary Surrealism Biennale brings together contemporary artists from the USA\, Canada\, the Netherlands\, Italy\, Turkey\, Romania\, Germany\, Finland\, and beyond — all working within the traditions of Surrealism\, Automatism\, Biomorphism\, Dadaism\, and Metaphysical Art. The mission: to make the hidden visible. \nAlongside the main exhibition: artist talks\, panel discussions\, curator-led tours every Saturday at 12:00\, and musical evenings every Thursday from 18:00 to 19:30. SUMMARY:Museum Night 2026 at the National Library of Latvia
DESCRIPTION:Latvia’s annual Museum Night takes place on May 23\, this year themed “The Adventures of Objects.” The National Library of Latvia (Gaismas pils) opens its doors for an evening of reading\, exhibitions\, and events. No library card needed — everything is free. \nLoud Reading Marathon (19:00–24:00) — read aloud excerpts from the children’s and youth book collection\, hosted by actor Emīls Krūmiņš with live sound by DJ MARKY or RIKATS. Sign up on site at the 1st floor. \nSilent Reading Above Riga’s Rooftops (19:00–24:00) — a mindful\, ambient reading session on the library’s rooftop gallery. Bring your own book or choose from a curated selection. Ambient music by MARKY or RIKATS. Register at the 8th floor entrance. \n15 exhibitions open\, including permanent collection “The Book in Latvia”\, the Baltic University story\, folk applied art\, Krišjānis Barons’ Dainu skapis\, and more. \nCafé Divi Raiņi open throughout the evening.
